Buffalo Check

Hi all!

One thing I can't get out of my mind is buffalo check. I am working on reupholstering a chair and I almost went with a check but I changed my mind at the last minute. However, I am lusting over a red and white buffalo check throw pillow or two for Christmas decorating.

A quick search on Pinterest turned up these images. Are you with me?

I think the key is to make sure it's a buffalo check not gingham otherwise you run into a country feel.

DIY Fabric Poms

Good morning!
I want to share a project I have been working on for the nursery that is really easy! I came across these fabric poms months ago and I fell in love and knew it was something I wanted to recreate. In my opinion they look so much better than the tissue poms, which can look worn over time.

In the tutorial in the link above they used very small Chinese lanterns, which I couldn't find so I improvised. I bought 4" styrofoam balls at a craft store and screwed a hook into them so I could easily hang them.

I then traced a glass (2.5"-3") and made circles.....this was the most tedious. I highly recommend watching Real Housewives or something mindless while working on this step.

Once I had my circles cut I put a small dot of hot glue in the center of the circle and pinched it together to create a rosette of sorts (see below).

The final step is to start gluing those rosettes on your styrofoam ball. There isn't any rhyme or reason to how I did it. I just did it and if I needed to go back and add more to fill in a gap, I did.

Here is the final product hanging in a corner of the nursery!

At some point I am going to go back and make a few larger poms as the corner feels a bit bare with just the 3 small ones.

Supplies:
1. fabric (I used a 1/2 yard for each pom)
2. styrofoam balls or chinese lanterns
3. hooks to hang
4. hot glue gun

This project cost me $12 and I still have 1 small styrofoam ball left over and plenty of white ribbon to spare.

Enjoy!

Floral Prints

Hello!

I hope you all had a nice weekend! We watched a scary movie or two, went to a costume party, and ate our fair share of candy. Sounds like a good Halloween to me!

I have been running across a lot of floral prints lately so I thought I would share. I love a nice flower pattern in small doses. What about you?

Happy Monday!

Fabric Frenzy

Hello!
One of my favorite blogger/designers posted yesterday about Schumacher Fabrics and while I had looked at their fabrics a few times I was always in a rush and had never really looked through their selection.

I LOVE fabric and think once we buy our own home it will be so hard to pick fabric for curtains and pillows and such because I love too many! This is why I need to have several houses so I can decorate them all differently and use all the different styles I love. Deal. :)

So, check out Schumacher Fabrics and please also note that they have Wallpaper, Trim, and Furniture. They aren't paying me to say this, I just love their selection.

Here are my favorite fabrics (at least for today) I will love new things tomorrow.

This citrine color is amazing. And if it's geometric or trellis print, I'm in!
I can just see this fabric made into curtains for a nursery.
I recovered my large ottoman in a print similar to this in blue at one time
There are no words

I want to convince a client to use this fabric because it's perfect!!!

Anyone else have a love for fabric like I do? I drive the people at my small local shops nuts because I go in and get about a million samples and then leave....come back a few days later and get more. Don't worry.... eventually I buy, but I do think they hate me a little.

Have a great day!!
