Big News!

Hi all!

The reason for the push to change M to a big girl room is that we are expecting baby #2!  We are thrilled though if M really understood I think she wouldn't be so happy. ;)

I'm excited to start on a new nursery here in a few weeks when we find out the sex.  I'll be sure to share that process here! :)

Happy Halloween!

Tired

Hi all!

Hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend!  Jacob surprised me with my 4 best friends coming into town for the weekend for my 30th birthday.  I literally had no idea and it may have been the best surprise ever.  We have been traveling so much that I have been worn out and ready for a mommy break so the timing was perfect.

I would love to be here taking a nap today!

Have a great day!

Confessions

Hi there!

I have a few confessions to make.

It seems in blogland you either love or seriously dislike (I hate the word hate) Young House Love. I have to admit I'm generally not a fan. However, every now and then they post something that I really like, which is why they are still in my reader.

I confess that I love what they did to their daughter's closet. That's right, I said closet.

You see growing up I dreamed that I had a little room off of my closet that I could go into and read. I'm not sure why but I always wanted a secret room. Well, this kinda reminds me of it and I think it's adorable. I wish we could do this in M's closet but it's simply not big enough.

I did start stenciling her closet this spring but it was a ton of work and the paint I was using was too light. Maybe I'll try again one of these days because I think it's a fun idea.

Another confession from someone that loves all things decorating. I can't stand to hang things. Unless it is a one nail kind of a job, I make Jacob do it. The good news is that he usually doesn't mind and he's really good at it. I just hate figuring out the measurements and I usually end up with more than one hole in the wall. It really is something I need to get over.

Another confession: I have a picture frame problem.

I drive Jacob nuts because I have about a million frames in a closet upstairs that I have bought or been given over the years. Yet I often still want to buy a new one. I think they are like shoes for me...... I may have 5 pairs of black dress shoes but I never have the style that I want to go with the new dress I just bought. ;)

I try to use the ones we have but some of them aren't my style anymore. I should really just give a bunch to Goodwill and be done with it.

Alright, that is all I can think of right now. Do you have any decorating confessions?

Versatile Blogger Award!

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

Bobi from Shoestring Sophistication tagged me with The Versatile Blogger award and I couldn't be more honored! Please head over to Shoestring Sophistication to check out all of Bobi's great inspiration and DIY projects!

For these awards, the blogger must:

1. Thank the person who gave you the award &
link back to their site in your original post.
2. Tell us seven things about yourself.
3. Pass along the award to five newly discovered bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and let them know they got this award.

Okay, so 7 things about me:

1. I have loved decorating since I was little. My mom nurtured this desire in me by letting me help here redecorate several rooms in our house growing up. Even though my style has matured and changed a lot since then, I really credit her for letting me help and express myself.

2. I have my nose pierced. Most people that don't know me in real life don't know this because it's not very visible in pictures. I got a small diamond stud my senior year of college and have no intentions of taking it out anytime soon.

3. I swam all throughout high school and even made it to regionals. My favorite races were the 200 medley, 50 freestyle, and the 500 freestyle.

4. I met my best friend, Sarah in 2nd grade and we are still besties to this day. We were each others maids (matrons) of honor in our weddings the summer of 2007. Even though we haven't lived near each other since high school she is and always will be my best friend. :)

5. Jacob and I have lived in 4 states in the 4 years we have been married. We lived in Atlanta for 2 years and while planning the wedding and for the first week of our marriage. We then moved to Central New Jersey for around a year and a half. From there we headed to South Florida for 2 years and this January we moved to Western Kentucky where we plan to be for awhile.

6. I have always been an animal lover and have always had a pet. I think I got my first kitty when I was 4-5 and have had a cat ever since. Jacob opened my eyes to dogs and after dating for several years we got our English Bulldog, Tatum (he lived with Jacob until we got married----less than a year). Then while in Florida we got our second dog, a Papillon, Oliver. This is on top of the 2 cats we already had!

7. I could eat ice cream everyday more than 1 time a day!

I am passing this award onto:

Hope you have a great weekend!

Things I'm Loving: February Edition

Hi all!

I haven't done one of these posts in awhile so I think I'm due. Here are the top things I'm loving these days.

1. Hobby Lobby
It's been forever since we lived near a HL so this is a big deal for me. It's so nice to have another fabric/craft store to consider when working on a project.

2. DVR
Yes, Jacob and I are just joining the 21st century and have DVR for the first time ever.
It's ah-mahzing!

3. Feeling baby girl kick
I can't explain the feeling just that I love it and it is so comforting.

4. Dr. Pepper
I have been treating myself to one of these about every afternoon and I look forward to it all day. Yum!

5. My sewing machine
My sewing machine is actually my mom's so it is a lot older than what is pictured but it works great and it was free. I have been using it a lot to make pillows and a cover for our ottoman and possibly curtains for the nursery soon.

6. S'mores
Jacob and I have been enjoying our fireplace by making s'mores probably more than we should each week. I have been craving them so keeping the stuff on hand has been a must for the last few weeks. :)

7. Salty Carmel Hot Chocolate
I am loving Starbuck's hot chocolate. It is delicious but from what I have read it's pretty bad for you. I usually just get a regular hot chocolate but sometimes I splurge for the Starbuck's version because it's so good!

8. Shark Steam Mop

My mother in law bought us this steam mop when we moved because our house is primarily hardwood floors. I can honestly say I love it and would recommend it to anyone that is considering a chemical free way to clean. It is really easy to use and it's amazing the dirt that it picks up. We don't have the purple one but the one that I think they call the pocket mop because it has 3 different heads and a carpet mop (which I have yet to try).

What are you loving these days?

I'm Loving

Hi all!

It is the simple things in life. I am loving this nail polish I just bought this weekend. It's Revlon Gray Suede and I think it's the perfect nude.

Things I'm Loving: October Edition

Good morning!
It's hard to believe it's already Thursday. I have a busy day volunteering and running errands today. However, I did want to make sure I got to this post this morning because I love doing these. Feel free to share what you are loving these days, whatever it is!

Things I'm Loving: October Edition
1. You may remember if you have been around long that I have posted about my love for Jamba Juice. Well, while I love them my wallet does not at almost $5 a smoothie I have started making them on my own. I usually make one as I'm heading out the door and drink it in the car as I'm getting to where I need to be!
My recipe for smoothies is: 1 banana
1 cup of low-fat vanilla yogurt
1-2 cups of frozen strawberries (or whatever fruit you want)
1/4 cup OJ or cranberry juice (whatever juice you have)

Blend and enjoy! Add more liquid if you want in thinner. I like to drink it with a straw!
2. My next love is a candle from Wal-mart. I know you're not going to believe me when I say that it smells amazing and fills our whole apartment but it does and it's only $3.50. I have pictured Hazelnut but my favorite is the Pumpkin candle and the Mulled Cider is pretty amazing too. I usually buy the ones in the glass container with 3 wicks. Try it, you will love them!

3. This is nothing new but I love the Today Show. I'm watching it now as I usually do as I'm drinking coffee, checking emails, and writing my blog. However, I hate the 10:00 hour.

4. As I mentioned before we have the windows and screen doors open and I am in love. Light the above mentioned candle, put on a sweatshirt, and open your windows. Do it. That is my slice of heaven.

5. For about the last month my finger and toenails have been painted Revlon Vixen and I love it. Not only does it last for at least a week on my fingers (longer on toes of course) but it's the perfect fall color in my opinion. It's dark without looking black and it goes on very easily!

6. I am so addicted to Nip Tuck it is disturbing. I'm telling you that Netflix Instant to our XBox 360 is dangerous. I'm currently on Season 5 Part 2 and I am going to be so sad when I'm all finished. I love it. Oh Dr. Christian Troy....
7. Cranberry juice is a must have these days. This is nothing new but I go through phases where I really want it a lot and then it will wear off and I won't buy it for awhile. I love the all natural kind that's a bit bitter. Yum!

8. Pantene Time Renewal Conditioning Mask is a product that is new to me that I'm loving. I use it about once a week and I feel like it's keeping my hair healthier. You leave it on for about 3-5 minutes and for $5 you can't go wrong!

9. If you have never tried Rex Goliath I highly suggest you check it out the next time you're at the store. I love it because it's really delicious for $5.99/bottle. You can see how I roll. I love the Cab Sav but that is always my favorite.

10. Last but not least I am loving the new Zac Brown Band CD "You Get What You Give", which just came out about 2 weeks ago. My favorite song by far is "Quiet Your Mind", track 7....check it out.

So that is what I am loving these days as it's slowly turning chillier here in South Florida. What are you loving? Any must try products or food? Share!

Top 10 Things I Can't Live Without

Hello!
It's been awhile since I did my last top 10 things I can't live without so I thought I would do another one....July edition.

1. Tostitos Hint of Jalapeno chips. Holy cow are they good. Go buy a bag, you won't be disappointed.

2. I recently started watching Nurse Jackie on Netflix and I love it. I'm a huge Edie Falco fan from the Sopranos so I'm not surprised that she's excellent in this new venture. I highly recommend it!
3. Sundresses. It's in the 90's with high humidity. Enough said.

4. Which brings me to #4, water. I have started drinking a whole lot more of this and I do generally feel better.
5. In an attempt to be healthier, rather than grabbing a pop in the afternoon if I'm feeling sleepy I'll make a cup of green tea.
6. As some of you know a few months ago I retired my old Suzuki and got a new Prius. I love it. I still get in and can't believe she is mine. I say she, because I still haven't picked a name yet. Any help? She's white and beautiful if that helps.

7. Homegoods. I'm there at least once a week. Enough said.

8. Guacamole. Add to #1 and enjoy. Bonus points if there is a margarita involved.

9. We have been going to the beach a lot more recently and I love it. Being an Ohio gal, it's still hard to believe we live near the beach and since we don't know how long we will be in Florida we're trying to soak it up.

10. I love frozen yogurt! It's become a bedtime snack with fruit or a bit of chocolate sauce. Yum!!
What are the top 10 things you can't live without this month?

Top 10 Things I Can't Live Without

Hello!

I thought I would switch it up and do something different today. A few of you have mentioned wanting to get to know me better so I thought I would do a post on the things I'm loving right now.

The top 10 things I can't live without:

1. I have been getting a lot of use out of my jean shorts. They are perfect for running errands and staying cool yet still stylish.

2. Here is something that will always be on my list because it's something I can't live without. Coffee. I start my day with a steaming cup and if you know me, you know it's best not to try to talk to me until I have had at least a few sips.

3. Another thing that will always be on my list is my Macbook Pro. I love it and wouldn't be able to live without it. Okay, maybe but I wouldn't be happy about it.

4. I am in love with Lollia lotions, right now especially the Inspire scent.
5. I am lovin' these sea glass lamps from Crate and Barrel. I just wish I had a place for them in my home!

6. I am about to show what a big nerd I am right now....I am in love with the Harbor Master game on my iphone. You move boats in and out of the harbor and it is addicting. It's free....download it and let me know if you don't get hooked!

7. I am lovin' OPI's That's HOT! pink on my toes for the summer. It's the perfect beach color.

8. One of my favorite treats is Jamba Juice. I would drink it everyday if I could!

9. Summer has arrived in South Florida, which means that I do not leave home without sunglasses. I got an early birthday gift from my mother in law of Michael Kors Aviators and I love them.
10. Z Gallerie is one of my favorite stores to head to when I need inspiration. I ran across these coasters and think they are so glam but functional at the same time. I think I need them.

I hope that you have enjoyed getting to see a glimpse into my life. What can you not live without right now?

Have a great day!

Emily
