Flower Decisions

Hi all!

It's yet another rainy day here in KY. The tornado warnings are getting old. We are supposed to have an end to the rain tomorrow for a few days so we are looking forward to working a bit outside this weekend.

Next weekend my mom is coming to spend Mother's Day weekend with us and to help us plant flowers. I started mulching our flower beds and it was tough with a big belly in the way so it will be nice to have the help. I've started looking at what kind of flowers would be best in our few flower beds out front and most importantly what would be low maintenance and look nice all summer. You see we will have a little bundle in June that I'm guessing will keep us quite preoccupied for a few months at least.

My first thought was Creeping Phlox but then I realized they only bloom through May.

My mom suggested Vinca but they only bloom through June

St. John's Wort was another thought but I'm not sold that it doesn't look like a weed

Verbena is another thought but I worry it's too tall

Ugh, too many options! So we will make a decision and buy plants by next weekend! Stay tuned for pictures.

Anyone have any insight?

Easter Decor

Hi all!

If you're late in the decorating game like I am then maybe these will help you decide on a bit of Easter decor. Most of these images can be easily recreated.

There is something so cheerful and happy about Easter decor!

Have a great weekend!

Inspirational Images

Good morning!

I'm happy to announce that yesterday we had a fence installed! I couldn't be more thrilled because it means at 8 months pregnant, I don't have to walk the dogs anymore. :)

We are preparing for my second baby shower this weekend so I'm posting and running. These are some inspirational images that I'm loving today. Very light and airy.....my favorite combo!

Have a great day!

DIY Fabric Poms

Good morning!
I want to share a project I have been working on for the nursery that is really easy! I came across these fabric poms months ago and I fell in love and knew it was something I wanted to recreate. In my opinion they look so much better than the tissue poms, which can look worn over time.

In the tutorial in the link above they used very small Chinese lanterns, which I couldn't find so I improvised. I bought 4" styrofoam balls at a craft store and screwed a hook into them so I could easily hang them.

I then traced a glass (2.5"-3") and made circles.....this was the most tedious. I highly recommend watching Real Housewives or something mindless while working on this step.

Once I had my circles cut I put a small dot of hot glue in the center of the circle and pinched it together to create a rosette of sorts (see below).

The final step is to start gluing those rosettes on your styrofoam ball. There isn't any rhyme or reason to how I did it. I just did it and if I needed to go back and add more to fill in a gap, I did.

Here is the final product hanging in a corner of the nursery!

At some point I am going to go back and make a few larger poms as the corner feels a bit bare with just the 3 small ones.

Supplies:
1. fabric (I used a 1/2 yard for each pom)
2. styrofoam balls or chinese lanterns
3. hooks to hang
4. hot glue gun

This project cost me $12 and I still have 1 small styrofoam ball left over and plenty of white ribbon to spare.

Enjoy!
