Playroom Idea Board

Hi!

Along with planning a nursery we are turning our front room into a music/playroom.  It currently is a music room lacking in much personality.  Here is where we are today:

I ordered the below rug today and Maddie's Christmas gift from Granny and Papa is the Everlasting Table from Land of Nod, which will grow with her.  For now we are going to use a few navy poofs for seating.  I'm going to add a bookcase for books and toys to hopefully keep it organized.  I might paint the sides with chalkboard or magnetic paint.  I'll hang M's artwork above the bookcase.
I'm hoping to pull it all together in the next few months!

Big Girl Room

Happy Saturday!

We finally have a weekend at home and we are looking forward to picking and carving pumpkins and having some family time!  I thought I should share what I have been up to design-wise.  We are planning to move M into a big girl bed and switch her room around a bit.  We are going to use the full size bed we have in the guest room and get a new dresser, bedding, chair, and curtains!  I don't want to repaint so we are keeping the very light blue walls.

The bedding arrived today and M is very excited about the horses so that makes me happy.  The rocking chair is one that has been passed down for generations and her Nana is stripping, repainting and having it re-caned.  It will fit better in the room with the larger bed as will the dresser, a gift from her Granny and Papa.  It is definitely a combined effort and we are so lucky to have so much help!

I plan to do the transition in the next month or so.  Wish us luck!! :)

Idea Board

Good morning!

We had a great weekend with family yet again. My mom was here and we went shopping and she watched Maddie while I was able to accomplish a project or two. As I mentioned last week I have a few things I'll be sharing with you in the upcoming week or two.

One of those is an idea board for a client looking for inspiration for her formal living room. She wanted the space to feel sophisticated yet comfortable. She wanted it to look pulled together and inviting not a room that is off limits to children and guests.

We were essentially starting from scratch as far as furniture. My only parameters were that she wanted the room to have a bit of blue in it to tie in with the adjoining formal dining room.

I'm happy to say the room was a hit and she plans to get started on it immediately!

If you are interested in an idea board please email me for more information. I offer several tiers of boards to accommodate your needs including a "Board on a Budget"- you give me the budget and I will work within it to accomplish the look you want!

Have a great day!

Idea Boards

Good morning!

Are you feeling stuck as you try to pull the finishing touches together in a room? Do you have a blank slate and don't know how to move forward as far as purchasing furniture and decor?

Here is a recent board I pulled together for a friend. She is in need of inspiration for her bedroom and currently besides a bed, a small night stand, and a dresser she wants to paint, she has a desk from IKEA in the corner. The feel she wants to accomplish in her bedroom is a vintage/contemporary combination.

She also has one wall that she wants to paint so I suggested a gray/silver wall stencil combo. The green/purple fabric is for curtains and from Calico Corners and the bedding is from West Elm. I also think a photo collage mixed with art pieces and pictures across from the stenciled wall will create a nice balance.
The other option comes from a color she suggested, coral. The bedding again is from West Elm and the curtain fabric is from Joann Fabric. Since I am actually going to Ohio to help her pull the room together (and paint the stencil wall----can't wait to post a tutorial for you all) I didn't add art for the other wall. One idea I had in order to save money was to frame some coordinating fabric and that is something we can do as a final step to tie it all together.
My friend chose the 2nd board and we are in the planning stages of pulling her room together now.

Let me help you by putting together an idea board to inspire you and help you get started. I offer basic idea boards, which are great for inspiration and more intricate boards, which detail your plan of attack.

Idea Boards

Happy Friday!
I hope everyone has something fun planned for the weekend. It's hard to believe it's almost September! Today I linked up my DIY Headboard over at the Shabby Nest's Frugal Friday party. Click here to check out what other creative ideas people have come up with this week!

Today I wanted to share a few idea boards I have come up with in the last few days. This client lives in an older condo that needs a spruce up! She recently took out the popcorn ceilings and painted the walls a calming shade of blue, as well as bought a new brown sofa. She wanted a feminine/vintage feel to the space.

This first idea board played off a rosey-pink color she wanted to pull in, which was inspired by a painting she loves.
The second idea board was a revision to add a bit more color as it seems the pink wasn't what she wanted after all. A few quick changes and it feel like a different space.
Other than her living room, my client also needed help with her dining room, which is an adjoining space painted the same shade of blue. Hanging from the ceiling is an antique chandelier of her grandma's, which adds such charm! I suggested a neutral gray curtain and a black pedestal table while we paint the existing wood cane chairs she has white. Another word she used to describe the feel she wanted in her home was funky. I thought the orange fabric on the chair seats would accomplish a this eclectic feel, while still remaining sophisticated.
Do you need an idea board? I offer different levels of boards including one like you see above all the way up to one with very specific details as to where to buy each piece. I will also work within your budget to accomplish a look you love!

More Idea Boards

Hi all! I hope everyone had a nice weekend. We enjoyed having a low key weekend at home.

I thought I would share a few more idea boards I have been working on over the last week.

This first idea board was for someone needing help to accommodate the knotty pine paneling on two of the walls in her living room. I suggested painting the two walls that aren't paneling a spring green and continuing the green throughout the room. Neutral furniture and curtains will tone down the paneling and yet adding fun accessories keeps the room from being too boring.
This next idea board was for a bedroom that had been painted a light blue and had dark furniture but they weren't sure what else to do. I suggested adding neutral curtains and bedding and then having fun in the accessories like throw pillows, art, and mirrors.
This last idea board was for a living room painted a taupe color but they needed furniture and a way to accommodate the brick fireplace and built in shelves in to the scheme of the room. I thought sagey greens would tie in the colors of the brick and the wood in together. I suggested a mirror over the mantel and navy throw pillows on the couch.

I hope everyone enjoyed my idea boards. Let me know if I can help you with one!

Idea Boards

Good morning!

I have been hard at work on a few idea boards for people needing inspiration. Sometimes I think it's hard when you live with a room that you see all the time to step back and decide what to do; especially if there is a design element to the room that is particularly challenging!

This first board is a perfect example of how it can be challenging to incorporate a certain feature of a room. In this particular living room there is an entire bricked wall with a fire place. They own the leather couch and love seat but weren't exactly sure how to incorporate the brick tones and make it work.

Here is what I came up with:
This next room is a guest bedroom that they wanted to paint turquoise but they weren't sure how to tie it all together. This one was a breeze because I love turquoise with yellow!

This last idea board was a very large master bedroom painted a grayish blue. She wanted to bring some color into the room and she wasn't exactly sure how to accomplish that task! I created a few different areas of the room: one being the bed area, a sitting area, and a dresser with a collage of frames.

I have several more idea boards coming in the next few days. Do you need an idea board? Would you like a specific one with all the info about where you can purchase each piece of furniture to achieve the same look? Are you on a budget? Contact me for more information!

Have a great day!
