Splash of Color

Hi all!

I hope you had a great weekend!  Jacob, M and I had a great time hosting friends from church and relaxing.   When I opened Pinterest this morning I came across this image and wanted to share.

If I needed new dining room chairs I would totally try this out.  Windsor chairs are a dime a dozen on Craigslist and it would be so easy to paint a few.

Mirror Before

I had to restore the settings on my iPhone (its dying a slow death.....can't wait for the 5G to be released soon) and when I did this picture was loaded back on my phone!

I guess that is one good thing about wiping you calendar and everything clean. I restored the settings to the last time I synced, which was last November. Oops.....guess I should do that more often.

Here is the mirror that I got for free on Craigslist!

and here is the after

more details about the mirror here

I love finding lost things!

Mirror Makeover

Hi all!

I have been busy with several projects around the house. I'm anxious to show you them over the next few days.

The first was a mirror I got on Craigslist for free last fall in Florida. I am kicking myself for not taking a before picture. I thought I had one and now I can't find it. Ugh. Anyway it was bright blue and all beat up.....but when I saw it and it was free, I knew I had to have it.

After sanding and spray painting it black, Jacob hung it for me last night (I told you I hate hanging stuff!) over the buffet in the dining room.

You may remember that I purchased the dresser for $20 and gave it a makeover. Details on that project here.

As you can see I haven't touched the brass chandelier, which will change at some point. I might take it down and spray it black since we won't be purchasing anything new until we buy a table.

At first I was worried about the scale of the mirror and the fact that it is pretty big over the buffet. However, it's growing on me. A matching pair of lamps are on my list to flank the mirror. I simply grabbed things from around the house to stage these pictures.

It's amazing that this whole project only cost $10 for 2 cans of spray paint!

The great swap out!

Good morning!

I am both happy and sad to report that I did make the 1 curtain panel that I had planned to make yesterday. That is the good news. The bad news is that after spending almost 4 hours making the scalloped edging....I gave up. I made the scalloped part too small and after sewing 3 yards it resembled small triangles more than being circular shaped. Ugh. I haven't totally given up but for now I'm going to just make basic panels and get them hung then make a decision whether I'm going to go back and add some sort of edging.

I'm also happy to report that I slept really well last night! Today will be a shopping day and I'm hopefully I will find a gem or two for the nursery.....lamp(s) included.

On a different note:

Wednesday while at a local children's furniture store looking for a bookcase I stumbled upon this:
A full sized off white headboard for $20!

I quickly snapped this picture and sent it to Jacob to ask if I could get it. He agreed and even picked it up later for me. We swapped out our old boring headboard in the guest room that I have been meaning to paint for probably 3 years.

Yesterday I listed our old headboard on Craigslist for $20 and within 3 hours it was gone. Just like that!

Not too shabby!

Wish me luck today!

Craigslist Easy

Hi all!
I think I may have been living under a rock even though I would like to think not. I am your regular Craigslist junkie. Whether I am looking for myself or a gem for a client, I usually find my way the website once every few days.

Well, a wonderful new tool was brought to my attention and I don't know how I ever lived without it.

You head to this website and drag the Easy button to your toolbar just below your search bar near the top of your screen.

You then simply pull up Craigslist and do a search like you normally would. Then hit the CraigsEasy button and it will show you all the results but just by picture. If you're interested in something you can click on it and see the full ad. It makes searching so much easier because you can quickly browse pictures rather than having to click through if you think you might be interested in something.

So we are taking your results from this:

To this:

I'm in love! I hope that I have helped one of you out. If you're a junkie like me this will save you so much time. :)

Have a great day!
