Baby Boy's Nursery Reveal!

Baby boy is set to make his arrival in early April so I have been busy working on his room.  As I already mentioned we are reusing all of M's furniture so while that made it easy in some ways in other ways it was more difficult.  See all her furniture is white and while I love that for a girl I would have chosen a wood dresser or crib for a boy.  I compensated by painting the walls a greige and added in wood tones elsewhere.

When we found out is was a boy I knew a few things: 1. I didn't want to do a theme like I didn't in M's room they just aren't my thing and I think this way the room grows with the child more and 2. I wanted to do a collage of frames for a collected look over the crib.

The bedding is the Parade collection from Serena and Lily and I love it!

To add color on the other side of the room I purchased some acrylic knock off shelves and let the books be the decoration.  The bulldog print is one I saved years ago as a PDF and it printed off beautifully.  The mirror used to be used in another room and for now I think it works well in here.

I made the mobile by cutting up a paper garland.  It was really easy and very inexpensive!

I love the curtain rod, which I purchased and spray painted gold to add more warmth to the room

I love the way the room turned out and am happy with the warmth despite all the white.  I also am a neutral girl at heart but love the pops of color throughout the room!

Let's Recap Shall We?

Hello!

In honor of switching up M's room I thought it would be fun to remember where we started when we bought our house almost 3 years ago.  There were some funky stains on the walls hence the primer and please notice my OCD taping out of furniture.  It's my favorite way to confirm things will fit since I'm such a visual person. :)

Here is M's room a month before she was born.  Everything is still the same just picture the shelves being more filled with books and books all over the floor.  We definitely have a little reader on our hands.

A source list since I never did a formal one on the original nursery reveal:

Paint:  SW Blue Horizon
Bookcase:  Cameron PBK
Crib:  Jenny Lind purchased on Amazon
Dresser:  Hemnes from Ikea
Chair and Ottoman:  Little CastleValentino ordered in custom fabric from a local store
Bedding:  Custom made through babybedding.com
Curtains:  Handmade from fabric from babybedding.com
Blue Lamp:  Pottery Barn
Floor Lamp:  Macy's online
Butterfly Mobile:  PBK

French Alphabet Print:  https://www.etsy.com/listing/60093392/limited-edition-bibitty-11x14-french?ref=listing-shop-header-3

Her room was definitely a labor of love and it is a room that I feel turned out better than I could have imagined!  It's sad to think about changing it up but I know it is only the first of many times :)

DIY Mobile Idea

Good morning!

I had to share this beautiful and easy to recreate mobile idea when I ran across it the other day. It is a simple lace and ribbon mobile that would dress up any nursery.

Nursery Before and After

Good morning!

Since you all have seen the big nursery reveal post, I figured I would show you how we got there and were we came from!

We started with a small room (the smallest but the closest to our room) with builder basic tan walls. After much consideration we went with SW Blue Horizon as the color (it's the middle one).

Here is the before. There were a few funky spots on the walls so Jacob primed those first.

(you can see my tape marks of where the furniture would go)

It only took us a few hours to do the first coat and then about an hour the next evening to finish. Super easy compared to what we were used to in the large open rooms downstairs.

Next came putting together the crib. I ordered it on amazon to save a bit of money!

Proud Papa!

Then we made the drive to IKEA and picked up the Hemnes 8 drawer dresser. I went back and forth as to whether we should spend more money on a dresser and buy her a quality piece that would last her through high school. Ultimately, I decided if she's anything like me she will have an opinion and could pick something out she really likes when she gets older.

Once we had the crib and dresser in place we waited for the chair and ottoman to arrive. From there I ordered the bedding and started on the curtains. Next came the bookcase and all the fun detail stuff. The prints were the last thing I decided on.

As they say, the rest is history!

Have a great day!

Nursery Reveal

Good morning!

I am happy to finally reveal the completed nursery. Jacob and I both feel really good about it! From the beginning I knew I didn't want a girly-girl feel with a ton of pink but rather something that felt feminine and airy, I think I accomplished my goal.

These are the fabrics that we started with several months ago. I ended up adding in one more for the inner part of the bumper, it's a bird fabric I think she will like looking at as she grows.

Hold on to your hat because there are a ton of pictures!

Here is her bookcase filled with mementos, pictures, and of course books

This is your view from the door

The nursery has been mostly finished for weeks with the exception of choosing prints. I was stuck on it for a long time but I am happy with my decision.
(Left-redheaded little girl reading a book to animals, Middle-elephant with a rabbit on his trunk, Right-blond little girl holding a kitty)

We had the bedding custom made and I love it!

Bedding close up and of course she has a kitty waiting for her in her crib!

Here are the fabric poms I featured awhile back placed above the antique rocking chair

This chair was given to us by Jacob's dad and is something many of the men and women in his family have sat in as children. It was originally embroidered by our baby girl's great x5 grandmother. Amazing!

Here is the other side of the room. The mirror was an ugly gold framed picture that I took apart, spray painted white and had a mirror cut for. The mobile is white and pink paper butterflies

We are in love with the glider/rocker because it is so comfortable and I love the fabric! Perfect for reading books and rocking to sleep!

I love this print! It features the alphabet in French, which is perfect!

Other details include this picture taken by my good friend, Liz and the deer given to me by my dad when I was a little girl

This frame holds a special place in my heart because it is my late grandmas. On the left is my grandma, Vivian and her picture is mounted on her handkerchief. My mom's mom Gladys is on the right and above her is the only piece of her I have since we lost my grandpa and their house in a fire. It is a piece of a coffee mug that I remember her using and it's something I found in the rubble, it's a picture of a butterfly, which fits perfectly with the nursery. This is my way of bringing them into the room because I know they would love to meet their great granddaughter

The pink shoes are from my mom, I used to have pink shoes and would throw a fit (as a 5 year old) when I had to wear them and they didn't match my outfit.

Antique blocks from my good friend, Sheena

Here are the curtains that I labored over and her beautiful chandelier

I hope you have enjoyed the tour of our little girl's room!

Nursery Love

Good morning!

I hope everyone is having a great week! I am so close to revealing our nursery but a trip to IKEA is in order later in the week before I'm finished. In the meantime, I thought I would share a few more nurseries/children's rooms that I have saved over the years.

Have a great Wednesday!
