Wainscoting

Good morning!

Thanks for the feedback yesterday. Today I thought I would talk about wainscoting and all the different ways you can use it around your home. I'm a huge fan because not only does it look chic but it can be practical as far as adding a ledge for decor and breaking up what otherwise would feel like a boring space. Here are some images of the different ways wainscoting can be used throughout the home.

I love this idea to frame in art with moulding!

Wallpaper on the top-wainscoting on the bottom!
I am not sure where but wainscoting will definitely be incorporated into our home one day. Do you love it like I do?

Sneak Peek

Hi all!

I'm finally ready to show you a sneak peek of a friend's home I have been helping with. I will have more pictures when the last few finishing touches are added in the coming weeks.

Do you recognize the mirror? It's one of my greatest finds ever from a local thrift store. I posted about it here.

I'm not sure if you can tell from my not-so-great camera pics but the paint is a beautiful charcoal with a white chair rail. (Paint-Behr Ultra Elephant Ear)

I showed you this picture a few days ago but I wanted to post it again because I love it. See the little corner of rug?
I cannot wait to show you the rest of her living/dining room and kitchen!

This picture makes my heart go pitter-patter. I love so many things about it!
Have a great Saturday!

Frugal Friday: Wingback Chair Before and After

Happy Friday All!

Today I am so happy to finally share with you the before and after of a wingback chair I had slipcovered for a friend!

We hunted for the perfect wingback with the curvy legs for a few weeks before I came across this gem at a local thrift store for $19. I knew it was perfect and would look awesome once we had it redone.
After several weeks of fabric hunting we came across a fabric and then about two weeks later this little lady was ready for her debut!

Can you even believe it's the same chair? Let alone slipcovered not reupholstered, which mind you is half the price and washable.

Here she is all styled up!
Stay tuned next week for a few more sneak peeks of this room and hopefully before too long the full review!

Head over to The Shabby Nest to see what other inspiring projects other bloggers have come up with this week!

Beach Inspired Decor

Good morning!

I'm tired this morning and was wondering what to post about and when I read Lavender and Lillies post about beachy items, I was inspired. You all don't mind if I do a similar post do you? I hope Lavender doesn't mind... :)

When I started searching for inspiration I started at Pottery Barn. Let me tell you that if you're looking for very literal beachy decor you should head there now. Lots of shells, oars, buoys, etc..

Here are beach inspired items that are perfect (in my opinion) year round or in the summer to lighten up any home!

I will leave you with a few of my favorite beachy images! Most pictures are from Coastal Living.

Inspiring Blogger: Rare and Beautiful Treasures

Good morning!

I'm up early this morning for no reason.....ugh. At least I can be productive, right? I am due to do another inspiring blogger post and if you all aren't aware of the blog Rare and Beautiful Treasures you need to check it out.

Erin is a wife and a new mom to the precious Wynn. Besides providing inspiration when she posts, Erin is great about posting beautiful pictures as well. Here are a few of her house, which she says is a "new old house" because of all the character she and her husband added when they built it in 2008.

I love the character of the stairs. I would love to have this exact entryway!
I think the built in plate holder is genius and really dresses up the room
I love the openness of the kitchen and look at those pendants!
Love the moulding in the master bedroom

Isn't the nursery beautiful? Did I mention that Erin hand painted the stripes and made the crib bedding? She is obviously so talented in so many ways!
I love the charming guest bedroom made especially for Erin's nephews
Stop over and check out Rare and Beautiful Treasures. I promise you won't be disappointed!

West Elm Fall Preview

Hello!

We are back from a wonderful visit to Ohio. We made the trek to attend a college friend's wedding and as a bonus got to spend time with Jacob's brother and mom and then my mom, dad, brother, sister-in-law, and my 5 month old niece. I could go on and on about my niece (we are so happy to finally be an aunt and uncle....can you tell?) Vivy but I will spare you the details about how cute and sweet she is. :)

When we returned last night we had the new West Elm catalog waiting on us. Here are a few pictures of what they are calling the Fall Preview. I don't know about you but it seems way too soon to be talking about fall since yesterday was the first day of summer. That's retail for you.

I love the ink color on the wall contrasted with the espresso and white furniture

Love the mounted light, although I don't think it's for sale

This is the pendant from the first picture. I love the natural but still sophisticated feel!

I think these are a chic storage option for magazines, throws, etc.

Cool jute cube

You can't really tell but these curtains have a small chevron print. Love them!

I'm playing catch up today so I have to run! I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Color Scheme: Blue

Hello!

Today I'm continuing my color scheme series with the color blue. I don't know about you but I grew up with a mother that loved blue so I love blue. Our house had various shades of blue throughout and it seems to be my default color.....if it's blue I'll probably like it (within reason). I'm blond with blue eyes so I look good in blue so I have to try to make sure my whole wardrobe isn't blue. ;)

Here are a few images featuring blue paint, furniture, and decor in various shades.

Here are a few ideas of how to bring the color blue into your room!

I love plants and I have them throughout our home. I love this planter idea and think it would look great inside too!
Pillows are an easy way to incorporate color either on a couch, chair, or bed.
I am dying for a mirror like this and have been on the hunt at local thrift stores. A can of spray paint and about 10 minutes and you are all set!
Painting a piece of furniture is always an easy and affordable idea

Do you love blue like I do?
