Lonny Magazine

Good morning all!
I hope you all had a great weekend. We did a bit of Christmas shopping, hung out with friends, ate yummy food, organized for the packers to come, and took naps. I don't know about you but that is a great combination in my book.

I'm fighting a cold, which is the pits. I'm hoping a nap today and a couple of good nights sleep will knock it out quickly.

Lonny Magazine magazine released it's December issue last week and it is full of great articles and images, as always. Here are some of my favorites:

I love the bright colors they feature in this issue. Check it out for yourself!

Have a nice day!

Weekend Eye Candy

Happy Saturday!
I'm spending the day with a good friend. It's sad to think our time here is limited with our wonderful friends. As ready as we are to move and settle down closer to home, it's never easy to say goodbye.

We're hitting the mall to finish up some last minute shopping. Hopefully it's not too crazy!

Here's some eye candy for you on this lovely morning!

Christmas Decor Love

Good morning!

Can you believe it's only 15 days until Christmas? I can't! I think part of that is because we didn't decorate this year since we're packing up and moving right after Christmas. Plus we will be home for the holiday. Also, I know part of it is that our minds have been on the move and not on the holiday season. Hopefully we can start to get more in the Christmas spirit over the next few weeks!

Here are some Christmas images that I love:

Backsplash Tile

Hi all!
It's a rainy day here in S Florida and I have a lot of errands to run. Boo. I hope your week is turning out nicely!

We are under contract on a home in Kentucky and one thing we both love about it is the kitchen. It's large with a lot of fun upgrades and plenty of cabinet space. There is one thing that makes it hard for me to plan around.....you see, I'm a white cabinet girl. My dream is white cabinets with a subway tile backsplash and carrera marble counters.

I realize that dream can still be realized, just not in this home, which I am fine with. There are beautiful dark cabinets throughout the kitchen, bar area, and butler's pantry. So, what is my problem you ask? I have always planned around white cabinets and now I'm having to change my thinking. What kind of backsplash do we need? What color will look best on the walls? I want to paint my pedestal table that will go in the breakfast nook, will black or white look best?

I thought I could at least start thinking through one of those questions and pull some inspiration from google. Here are several kinds of backsplashes with dark cabinets including but not limited to glass tile, tumbled marble, slate, and subway tile, and stainless steel.

What do you prefer? I wouldn't have thought that white subway tiles would look nice but in the picture above they do. Maybe a compromise with a glass subway tile in a green like the picture above would work nicely. Decisions decisions....

Have a great day!

News!

Good morning!
I'm still alive even though I haven't been around for almost a week. Jacob and I were out of town and we're just getting home and back into the swing of things today.

I mentioned last week that I had an announcement to make and today is the day! Jacob and I are moving to Kentucky! We were there this last weekend house hunting and (cross your fingers) we found one! We are thrilled to be closer to home (Ohio) and to buy our first house. Things are happening quickly around here in an already busy time of year as we plan to be in KY a month from today. Yes, you read that correctly.

I'm busy wrapping up clients here as well as finishing up some Christmas shopping (so glad I did most of my shopping a few weeks ago). Not to mention all the friends we need to make time for before we leave.

I can't wait to share with you the decorating process of our new home (I can finally paint walls!) and expand my business to a new state.

In the meantime, I am still available for online consultations and idea boards. Live in KY and interested in a free consultation after the first of the year? Contact me for more information!

I'll be back to more regular blogging at least until near Christmas.

Have a great day!

Christmas Spirit

Good morning!
I hope your week is turning out to be a nice one! I have a few surprises I'll be announcing in the upcoming weeks so stay tuned.

Can you believe it's already almost Christmas? I can't get over the fact it's December. Although don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. For a few reasons (see announcement coming soon) we aren't decorating for Christmas this year plus we will be home in Ohio leading up to and on the big day. Couple that with the fact we're in S Florida and up until yesterday it was in the 80's and it doesn't feel much like Christmas to me!

So, as I was thinking of things that put me in the Christmas spirit I thought I would share them with you all.

I had to include a Christmas tree even though we aren't getting one this year. This is our tree on Christmas morning last year.

Any kind of warm drink like a gingerbread latte or hot chocolate

Being an Ohioan at heart, snow reminds me of Christmas

Christmas music too, of course

Even though it can be hectic I enjoy Christmas shopping because it puts me in the holiday spirit

Every year but this year in particular we're enjoying holiday scents
(especially tree scents since we don't have our own)

I love making and eating Christmas cookies! It is a tradition in our house

Christmas lights always make me smile!

So what am I missing? What puts you in the Christmas spirit?

Have a great day!

West Elm

Hi all!
I am yet again going to talk about West Elm this morning. I tend to do a post about WE every few months because I genuinely like their furniture and accessories. Here are several items I am loving right now.

Have a great day!
